Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program of the Southwest Healthcare Medical Education Consortium! We are an ACGME-accredited community-based program located in Southwest Riverside County in the beautiful areas of Temecula and Murrieta, California. Our program has a 6-6-6 resident complement. We welcomed our inaugural class on July 1, 2019, and we invite you to consider paving the historical path of our program, which offers the unique experience of delivering innovative primary care that targets improved outcomes and serves a diverse community in an area with a shortage of primary care physicians. The mission of our program is to develop family medicine physicians who provide holistic patient and family-centered care delivered in transformative ways to improve patient and population health outcomes in a cost-effective manner. Residents rotate at Temecula Valley Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital and Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital; three facilities recognized for quality of care and patient safety. Each facility gives residents the opportunity to gain the breadth of experience necessary to become a superior family medicine physician. Residents longitudinally care for patients at two continuity clinic sites, Rancho Family Medical Group Temecula – Makena and Neighborhood Temecula Parkway, both located less than a mile from Temecula Valley Hospital. Unique attributes of our program include:- Delivery of team-based, patient and family-centered comprehensive care infused with primary palliative care principles.
- Culturally-sensitive care delivered to diverse and underserved patient populations.
- Faculty who practice, model and support innovative ways of delivering high quality care through home visits to high-risk patients, community health group visits, telehealth, and the use of technology-supported care delivery.
- Enthusiastic faculty with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise.
- An emphasis on resident wellness and equipping residents with tools for effective work/life balance.
- Excellent ABFM Board Certification pass rate!
